Getting to Antiparos
Even though Antiparos is a separate island, it depends on its big sister Paros for connection to the rest of the world, thought the port of Pounda. Paros is very well connected to Athens in two ways:
(a) by air: the new Paros airport was opened in 2016 and while it is still small, it allows for far more flights per day than previously. Direct flights from Athens take less than 30' and are currently run by two airlines, Aegean Airlines and SkyExpress. There are also scheduled flights from Thessaloniki, and more are expected to be added in the future. Current plans involve the expansion of the airport to be able to accommodate international flights by 2024-25.
From Paros airport, taxi and bus services connect to the port of Pounda, about 10 minutes away.
(b) by ferry: fast and efficient ferry services connecting the main port of Paros (Paroikia) with Athens run year-round, and with even greater frequency in the summer months. It is also easy to reach many other Aegean islands from Paros by ferry (e.g. Mykonos, Santorini, Naxos, Patmos, Sifnos). Blue Star Ferries and Hellenic Seaways run services from the port of Piraeus (Athens' main port), and SeaJets and Golden Star Ferries from the port of Rafina. From the Paroikia, taxi and bus services connect to the port of Pounda, about 10-15 minutes away.
Crossing from Pounda to Antiparos is very easy: ferries generally run every 20-30 minutes (throughout the day) or 1 hour (at night) in the summer months. The actual crossing takes only 5 minutes and tickets can be bought on the ferry - no need to book in advance. Cars can easily be driven onto the ferry. For an up-to-date schedule click here.
Getting around
We strongly recommend a car or at least quad/motor bike for the island - as there is not sufficient public transport and only a few taxis. Plus, some of the loveliest places on the island are off the main road. There are a few car rental agencies on Antiparos: Angelos, A Rental, and KK rental. Many guests prefer to rent a car directly from Paros when they arrive (either by plane of ferry). All major international agencies are present in Paros, and several local ones. Rentalcars is an easy way to compare prices and cars offered in Paros.
Taxis: there are two licensed taxis on the island. When they are not at the taxi stand in front of the port, they can be contacted at +306970624750 and +306988848484
