Food and drink
Despite its small size, Antiparos has a very vibrant culinary scene, ranging from picturesque seaside tavernas to refined restaurants. Also, there are many great spots for a drink (with or without food).
It is best if you discover them yourself - there is really something for everybody here - but for what it’s worth, below are some of our favourites
Kalokeri - in town on the main street: their tagline is “Refined Aegean Cuisine” and the experience lives up to it! Vana Vrettou and Sotiris Kardakis, together with the award-winning team of Athenian restaurant “Magikes Katsaroles” expertly and imaginatively use local ingredients to create dishes with distinct Cycladic flavour and unpretentious sophistication.
Captain Pipinos - by the water in Agios Georgios: arguably the most photographed spot on the island, guests enjoy fresh seafood overlooking the temple of Apollo just across the bay on Despotiko. Don’t bother trying to book - they won’t take reservations (only a certain ultra-famous actor and Antiparos resident is rumoured to be able to do so)
The Rooster - in Livadia beach: a stunningly designed hotel, restaurant and spa, located in the west of the island, the Rooster offers amazing sunset views. You can enjoy a cocktail and great bar food, but also al fresco dining in the restaurant that is located just behind.
Casa Fistiki - in Agios Georgios: the most exciting new opening of 2023; a fantastic fusion of Mediterranean and Mexican cuisine with cool cocktails to match and entirely home-made desserts to die for (my personal favourite: smoked pineapple ice cream)
Peramataki - in Soros: a lovely family taverna who go beyond the typical “greek salad and french fries”. The highlight is definitely the hand-made pies baked fresh every day. They run out very fast though, so come early!
Perigiali - in Panagia: a great family taverna steps away from the tree-lined Panagia beach.
Elia Kafenes - in town, at the beginning of the main street: great breakfast ranging from healthy to extra-decadent, but equally great for lunch or dinner.
Yam - in town, by the municipal parking: the feeling is laid back and easy, but the team of Yam takes their food and drink very seriously! Its a great place for breakfast, lunch or dinner - kids will love the hand-crafted playground in front (and parents will too!).
Argo - in town, on the way to the camping: located on a quiet back street, it’s not an obvious choice for the first-time visitor. But surely worth it!
Cafe Margarita - in town, on the main street: perfect people-watching spot in the middle of the main pedestrian street, from breakfast to dinner!
Lollo’s - in town, on the seafront: great, authentic Italian pizza and antipasti. When you can’t find a table (which is quite often in the high season) you can always take the pizzas to go!
Sapou - in town, on the seafront: an elegant and ‘upmarket’ modern restaurant where the Athenian crowd and their foreign guests loves to gather.
Blender - in town, on the main streeet: Lovely shakes, pies, energy bars, salads and desserts – many vegan options, good to sit in or take away. Great for breakfast or lunch on the go!
Vasilainas Blue, a new addition to the Antiparos town dining scene. The summer outpost of an Athenian dining institution, the setting and the food are definitely upmarket and well-prepared, but without being fussy at all - exactly in tune with what Antiparos should be all about.
Sunset - at Sifneiko beach just outside town: as its name suggests, this is THE place to enjoy a cocktail and watch the sun dive into the sea. But there’s more that that - a lovely open-air dining experience and a lively, fun bar!
